Land Rover has just officially confirmed the Range Rover Sport Electric… Its second fully electric model and one of the most anticipated SUVs of 2026. Following the reveal of the full-size Range Rover Electric earlier this year, the Sport Electric takes the same bold step into battery power but with a sportier, more dynamic character. Here’s everything we know so far.

What Has Been Confirmed?

JLR officially unveiled the Range Rover Sport Electric in July 2026, confirming it as the next step in Land Rover’s electric future. Key details confirmed so far include:

• Fully electric powertrain – no combustion engine option on this model

• Around 300 miles of range – making it genuinely usable for longer journeys without range anxiety

• 350kW rapid charging capability – meaning a meaningful charge in a short stop

• Built on the same MLA platform as the current Range Rover Sport – so the same outstanding chassis and dynamics, now with electric power

• Unmistakably Range Rover Sport in design – the muscular, athletic exterior carries over with only subtle changes to distinguish the electric version

• Arrival at dealers expected in 2027 – with full pricing and specifications to follow later in 2026

How Does It Compare to the Current Range Rover Sport?

The current Range Rover Sport already offers plug-in hybrid (PHEV) variants – the P440e and P510e – with up to 70 miles of electric range. The fully electric Sport Electric takes this much further, removing the combustion engine entirely and delivering what JLR describes as a “visceral, effortless” driving experience amplified by an advanced new chassis tune and a bespoke audio sound profile designed specifically for the electric powertrain.

Off-road capability remains central to the brief. JLR has been clear that the Sport Electric will retain the Terrain Response system and the genuine off-road capability that Range Rover Sport owners expect.. 

Should You Wait for the Electric Version or Buy Now?

This is the question we’re hearing most from customers at Broadfields at the moment. The honest answer depends on your situation:

• If you’re due a change in the next 6-12 months: It may be worth waiting to see full pricing and real-world range figures before committing to a current petrol or diesel model

• If home charging isn’t practical for you: The current PHEV models remain an excellent option – electric for most daily driving, petrol for longer trips

• If you use your Sport for towing regularly: Worth waiting for confirmed towing capacity figures on the electric version before making a decision

• If you want the best deal on a current model: Electric announcements often create strong used market opportunities on existing petrol and diesel Sport models

What Does This Mean for Servicing?

Electric vehicles still need expert servicing – in many ways more so than conventional cars. Brakes, tyres, suspension, software diagnostics and high-voltage system checks all require specialist knowledge and equipment.
