What’s the difference between Land Rover and Range Rover?

Most people will think of either a Land Rover or a Range Rover when they consider buying an SUV. However, how many people truly understand the differences?

Land Rover originated in 1948 with the Series 1 Land Rover. In 1970, Range Rover was launched as a luxury-oriented 4×4 with off-road capabilities.

Since Range Rovers belong to the Land Rover brand, they are all Land Rovers, but not all Land Rovers are Range Rovers!

Range Rover Models

Evoque

Since 2011, the Evoque has been a fantastic small family SUV, available with two and four-wheel drive and three and five-doors. There are a number of improvements from the original Evoque, including biofuel compatibility, lightweight construction materials, regenerative brakes, and a stop-start system.

Velar

The Range Rover Velar is the fourth model in the range and was introduced in 2017. Despite its smaller dimensions, the Range Rover Velar is a smaller and more stylish variant of the Range Rover with sleeker lines, more sportiness, and better on-road capability. The Velar is a five-door SUV that has a front engine and four-wheel drive.,

Classic

With its best off-road and luxury credentials, the original Range Rover is the first generation under the brand. With a top speed of 100mph, a towing capacity of 3.5 tons, hydraulic disc brakes on all four wheels, and a four-speed dual-range automatic transmission, this model was dubbed ‘a car for all reasons.’

Land Rover Models

Discovery

The Discovery lineup consists of medium to large premium SUVs. The models have evolved over time, with the first generation debuting in 1989 and the third generation debuting in 2017. The interiors remain mostly unchanged, maintaining the same opulent feel as the original Land Rover. Later models have Terrain Response 2, which monitors wheel slip, wheel speed, angle of approach or departure, and suspension compression or rebound to modify as needed.

Discovery Sport

The Land Rover Discovery Sport is a more compact version of the Discovery that enhances the vehicle’s design to create a more compact version. Whether driving through the countryside or an urban wilderness, you will be doing so in style.

Defender

The Defender has been tuned to maximise off-road control and on-road character. It incorporates Land Rover’s strongest materials ever to push the vehicle to its absolute limits and maximise durability. The Defender is the most off-road-oriented model. Capable of handling difficult terrain, this will confidently transport you from one environment to another.
