Having an MOT is a legal requirement when driving any vehicle. We know that this can be a hassle, especially if your test date comes around during a busy or financially difficult time. Your Land Rover MOT has to be carried out by an authorised test centre, but the Broadfields Garage team are on hand to offer support and assistance before and after the test.
Our friendly team of mechanics specialise in all Land Rover vehicles – be it a Defender, Discovery, Freelander or Range Rover. We’ll carry out a ‘pre-inspection’ on your vehicle – ensuring it is at its peak functioning ability with the hope of it then passing the all-important test. This is worth the small extra cost as it will increase the chance of your car passing its MOT, resulting in reduced costs when it comes to any repairs needed.
What your MOT will entail
An MOT is a test carried out to check that your vehicle falls within the road safety and environmental standards set by the DVSA. You are expected to have an MOT once a brand-new car reaches three years of age and then once every year following that. This is crucial as it is illegal to drive a car without one and you could face up to a £1,000 fine (this excludes driving to or from the location your car is being fixed if needs be).
The maximum MOT fee in the UK is currently £54.85 however this can vary depending on the size, weight and capacity of your vehicle.
During an MOT, many aspects of your car’s daily functioning will be tested. From fuel system and engine emissions to steering and seatbelts, the car will be thoroughly checked to ensure it is safe and compliant to drive, leading to the assured safety of you, the driver and others around you.
Preparing for a pass or fail on your Land Rover MOT
If your vehicle passes its MOT, you will receive a pass certificate and do not have to apply for another until a year later. However, it may include a list of minor issues that could be fixed at our Essex based garage if you so pleased.
Unfortunately, if your vehicle fails you will instead receive a ‘refusal’ of certificate to state that it would be dangerous to drive before fixing its major issues and therefore cannot be signed off as a pass. In this case, you will not be able to drive your vehicle until these problems are repaired. If you do drive your potentially ‘dangerous’ vehicle you could find yourself facing an even bigger fine of up to £2,500.
We use trusted MOT test stations only
If you use our Land Rover MOT service, following our pre-inspection we’ll take your vehicle to an independent, trusted test station – so you don’t need to worry about your car being failed unfairly.
